Two people were reported by La prensa dead from gunshot wouunds in the El Zumen district of Managua earlier today.

Around 1000 people gathered, supporters of PLC candidate Eduardo Montealegre; they were met by rival Sandanista supporters who refused to let them through and attacked them with sticks and stones.

During the altercations gunfire rang out and people went down from the shots. Two people were later prounced dead, with injuries to others.

In another incident a group of PLC supporters were protesting outside the offices of the Sumpreme Electoral Counsel, when they were surrounded and attacked with sticks and stones by around 300 Sandanistas. A small group of Police were at the scene unable or unwilling to get involved. Eventually the mob dispersed and no major injuries were reported.
